There are hundreds of ways that chronic pain, DNA damage, aging , inflammation, oxidative stress , antioxidants, metabolism and our immune systems are joined . A reasonable place to start examining those connections would be the one between the management of oxidative stress and the prevention or at least later onset of some degenerative and often painful conditions that we associate with aging.
Oxidative stress is a deal breaker – even though it doesn’t sound serious and it’s linked to many conditions and ailments like Parkinsons disease, Alzheimer’s disease , myocardial infarction other causes of heart failure and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Oxidative stress is what happens when there is either an uncontrolled escalation in free radicals/oxy-radicals/peroxides (collectively referred to as reactive oxygen species) or a large shortage in the body’s antioxidant resources , one of which is l-glutathione.
When your body can’t effectively use its supply of antioxidants to protect itself- at a cellular level- from free radical damage, you have oxidative stress. Reactive oxidative species (ROS) originate indifferent ways – externally or internally .
Externally, free radicals are caused by ; ingested/inhaled pathogens, toxins , cigarette smoke , environmental pollutants , chemotherapy , UV damage , radiation, strenuous exercise and stress .
Internally, oxy-radicals are a usual by-product of metabolized oxygen . Even our own immune system produce free radicals to attack bacteria, toxins and other invaders . Usually , our own reserves of antioxidants will scavenge these internally created free radicals . However , if age and/or weak health and poor diet interfere with our usual ability to avoid oxidative stress the damage accumulates and our defenses are eventually overwhelmed . When you think of antioxidants – think anti aging
Oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species oxyradicals are also responsible for DNA damage and that in turn can lead to cellular death and cell mutation. Typically , just as our manufacturing ability of antioxidants like glutathione declines with age, (and you can’t take an oral glutathione supplement ) so too does our usual ability to keep our DNA in good repair . One clear example of the physical degradation created by oxidative stress is the wrinkled look of the skin of sun worshippers .
According to the Free Radical Theory of Aging, the build up of damaged cells from the unchecked action of oxy-radicals is a primary contributor to age related conditions and while we cannot stop that , no one will debate that taking care of our health can deliver a better quality of life through what are supposed to be our golden years.
Dr Keller’s Original Glutathione formula will help your body produce more Glutathione -the Master Antioxidant and reduce the damage caused by oxidative stress.
